The Bold New Normal Conference 2026: Harnessing the Power of Africa’s Diaspora

On Saturday, 13 June 2026, leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs and changemakers gathered at the Leonardo Hotel, St Paul’s, in London for The Bold New Normal Conference 2026.

Hosted by international business leader and author Lucy Quist, the conference explored the theme: “The Power of the Diaspora: New Mindsets, New Communities, New Shared Prosperity.”

The event marked an important expansion of The Bold New Normal movement into the United Kingdom. Following four conferences in Accra, the London gathering brought the conversation closer to Africans in the diaspora and created a space to examine how their knowledge, networks, capital and experience can contribute to Africa’s long-term prosperity.

Moving Beyond Remittances

For many years, conversations about Africa’s diaspora have focused heavily on remittances and individual efforts to support family members or communities back home. These contributions remain valuable, but the 2026 conference invited participants to consider a much broader role for the diaspora.

Africans living abroad are connected to global institutions, advanced technologies, international markets and diverse professional networks. When these resources are deliberately connected to opportunities across the continent, the diaspora can become a powerful partner in building businesses, strengthening institutions and creating sustainable economic growth.

The conference challenged participants to move beyond occasional involvement and towards structured, long-term collaboration.

New Mindsets

Creating shared prosperity begins with how people think about Africa, its challenges and its possibilities.

The Bold New Normal encourages Africans everywhere to reject limiting narratives and recognise the continent’s capacity to create, lead and prosper. This requires confidence, accountability and a willingness to turn ideas into practical action.

Throughout the conference, participants were encouraged to examine the beliefs that shape how they lead, invest, collaborate and contribute. The central message was clear: meaningful transformation requires people who are prepared to think differently and act boldly.

New Communities

The diaspora is diverse, spanning generations, professions, industries and countries. Its full potential can only be realised when individuals move beyond isolated efforts and build communities around a shared purpose.

The Bold New Normal Conference created an environment in which professionals, entrepreneurs, investors and emerging leaders could connect, exchange ideas and identify opportunities for collaboration.

These relationships matter because sustainable progress rarely comes from one person or organisation. It emerges when people combine their expertise, resources and influence to solve problems together.

Building new communities also means creating stronger connections between Africans on the continent and those living abroad. Both groups bring valuable perspectives, and lasting progress depends on cooperation built around trust, clarity and shared responsibility.

New Shared Prosperity

Prosperity should create opportunities that extend beyond individuals and benefit businesses, communities and future generations.

The conference explored how diaspora participation can support areas such as enterprise, trade, healthcare, education, technology and investment. It also called for clearer and more credible pathways through which people can contribute their skills and resources.

The goal is to move from good intentions to measurable outcomes. This means developing businesses, partnerships and institutions that can grow sustainably, create employment and produce value across borders.

Shared prosperity also demands excellence and integrity. Africa’s development cannot depend solely on aspiration. It requires disciplined leadership, capable institutions and people who are willing to take responsibility for delivering results.

From Conversation to Action

Lucy Quist’s masterclass brought the conference themes together through a call for purposeful action. Participants were encouraged to consider the practical role they could play in creating the Africa they want to see.

The Bold New Normal is founded on the belief that changes in mindset, language and vision must ultimately lead to bold action. Conferences can inspire new thinking, but their lasting value is measured by the partnerships formed, businesses created, investments made and communities strengthened afterwards.

The 2026 conference therefore represented more than a one-day gathering. It was an invitation to the diaspora to become an intentional partner in Africa’s future.

Building the Future Together

The Bold New Normal Conference 2026 demonstrated what becomes possible when Africans from different backgrounds gather around a shared commitment to prosperity.

The future will require new ways of thinking, stronger communities and more purposeful collaboration between the continent and its diaspora. Every professional, entrepreneur, investor and emerging leader has something meaningful to contribute.

The challenge now is to transform the energy of the conference into sustained action.

The Bold New Normal continues to call on Africans everywhere to take action, build together and create shared prosperity.
